New Year’s Resolution

Do you know new year’s resolution is a good opportunity for individuals who have failed in bringing changes to their life? Some might say that they will start next day, next week, next month or when the summer begins.

Well the time is right now, even though it has been days since the New Year has commenced. So, now is your chance to sit down and start preparing the list of significant changes you can bring in your life for 2018.

Of course, it isn’t simple but is something worth trying.

Go to The Right Resolution

The best shot at being successful in keeping your new year resolution is by setting goals that are meaningful as well as doable. Most resolutions fail as they aren’t the right one appropriate for you. A resolution which you take may go wrong due to three major reasons –

  • The resolution is quite vague
  • It was created based on what society or someone tells you
  • Lack of a realistic plan for achieving the resolution

Frankly, the goal you set must be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Timebound).

Design A Plan

Keep in mind that the end goals you have won’t magically appear. There are plenty of ways to figure out on how to reach or achieve it. You won’t be waking up and changing your life one day, but it will need a plan for what needs to be done and even for roadblocks which you might come across in your journey. For example, if you are trying to break a habit, start with segmenting it into three parts, a routine, cue and reward.

Keeping the Resolution Personal

The routine and cue for a bad habit like smoking is when the individual is trying to quit. Here you might need to work on the cue, i.e. figure out what the real cue for the smoking habit is and then how we can replace it. Now both the reward and cue must be obvious and easy.

Overcome the Resolution Hurdles

It is a known fact that no one is perfect and the same is applicable for your resolution. However, you do have the option to be on track. So, what is the best way to handle a problem that comes around when you are on the way to success? Just keep in mind that you are up against yourself and it is not going to be easy and you really need to put your foot down.

Conclusion

Your new year resolution might not be easy, but it is worth trying. You might not be able to get the desired results, still there is no harm in trying as long as you put in effort into it.
